As a preliminary exercise to jog my memory, here is the obligatory “Hello, world!” program in a variety of languages. On the one hand, the programs do nothing except output a string, and so don’t illustrate very much about the respective languages. I originally started davinci’s notebook to overcome my writer’s block in writing about science, the result of having been raised by abusive parents who punished me both for writing and for studying science throughout my life.
Since then, it’s evolved into a place where I write about whatever comes to my mind.
